What is Pico Laser?

Pico Laser is an advanced laser treatment that uses ultra-short picosecond pulses of energy to target specific concerns within the skin.

Depending on the treatment protocol and indication, Pico technology can be used to target unwanted pigmentation and support improvements in the overall appearance of skin tone and texture.

Unlike a one-size-fits-all approach, Pico Laser treatments can be tailored according to your:

  • Skin type

  • Skin concern

  • Treatment area

  • Pigmentation

  • Previous treatments

  • Individual response

  • Desired outcome

At Pose Aesthetics, we believe that effective laser treatment starts with the right assessment and the right treatment plan, rather than simply using the highest possible setting.

What can Pico treat?

Pico Laser can be used for a variety of aesthetic skin concerns, depending on individual suitability. Pico can be used to target certain types of unwanted pigmentation associated with sun exposure and ageing.

These commonly appear on areas such as:

  • Face

  • Neck

  • Chest

  • Hands

  • Other areas exposed to the sun

Pigmentation can have different causes, so your practitioner will assess the area before recommending treatment.

Uneven Skin Tone & Pigmentation

If your skin appears uneven, dull or affected by areas of unwanted pigmentation, Pico Laser may be suitable to help improve the appearance of skin tone.

Treatment is tailored according to the type and depth of pigmentation being addressed.

Skin Rejuvenation

Certain Pico Laser protocols can be used as part of a skin rejuvenation treatment plan.

The aim may be to improve the overall appearance of:

  • Skin tone

  • Texture

  • Clarity

  • Radiance

  • Signs of photoageing

Your practitioner will discuss which protocol is most appropriate for your individual skin.

Acne-Related Pigmentation

Post-inflammatory pigmentation can remain following acne or other inflammatory skin conditions. Pico Laser may be appropriate for some forms of unwanted pigmentation, although the underlying cause and current condition of the skin must be assessed first.

Selected Skin Texture Concerns

Certain Pico protocols may be used to support improvement in the appearance of skin texture and selected acne scarring.Your practitioner will assess the type of scarring and determine whether Pico Laser is an appropriate treatment option.

Tattoo Removal

Picosecond laser technology can also be used for tattoo removal.

However, results can vary significantly depending on:

  • Ink colour

  • Ink composition

  • Tattoo age

  • Tattoo depth

  • Tattoo size

  • Skin type

  • Previous tattoo removal treatments

Multiple sessions are generally required and complete removal cannot always be guaranteed.
